SB 87 (EMS discipline) passed out of committee this morning with an amendment that requires the medical expert for the hearing to be a physician certified in emergency medicine and not affiliated with the hospital of the medical director.

As you are aware, the IAA has been working with several Indiana Senators and Representatives to create legislation that will cause insurance companies to directly reimburse providers.This year, two bills have been introduced that will address this issue. Senate Bill (SB75) and House Bill (HB1299) have been introduced for consideration. Both of these bills have been moved to their respective committees for consideration. Now is the time to contact your Senators and Representatives to ask for their support on these bills. You may find their correct email addresses at http://www.in.gov/legislative/legislators.

If insurance payments are going directly to the beneficiary and you are not getting paid for the services you provided because of this, then you need to support this bill.
